Welcome to your RS300 and RS Vareo National Championship Website for 2015

This is going to be a fantastic RS300 and RS Vareo National Championship. Dovey Yacht Club and the village of Aberdovey itself are really excited about hosting your fleets and are determined you are going to have a wonderful visit.

 

 

 

General Overview:

The Village:

Aberdovey is a thriving little harbour resort set within the Snowdonia National Park, where the river Dyfi meets the blue waters of Cardigan Bay. It has miles of sandy beaches and its own micro climate. The village website here is a great way to start finding about all that you will be able to see and do in Aberdovey. The Aberdovey Tourist Information Office also has a super website here.  The village has two cashpoints. The cash point at the Post Office is free. The cash point next to DYC will charge you a withdrawal fee.

How to enter:

 

The entry fee is only £99 if you enter and pay before Mon 8 June. After that date the entry fee rises by £25 to £124.

The youth entry fee for under 21 year olds is just £89 if you enter and pay before Mon 8 June. After that date the entry fee rises by £25 to £114.

You need to be a full member of the RS Class Association in order to compete at your Nationals. So if you are not a member you will need to join asap in order to get your membership number.   Join by clicking on Joining the RS Association in the title to your left.   I would recommend printing out the standing order form, scanning it and sending it to our Membership Sec Joanne Boutle cos then you won't have to repeat the process next year.

Select the prize categories for which you are eligible:

RS300: Master - 1st helm 50 years old or over outside main prizes
RS300: Apprentice - 1st helm at their first RS300 Nats
RS300: Lightweight - 1st helm less 75kg and under
RS300: Fidelis - 1st helm outside main prizes who has competed in at least 3 previous RS300 Nats

RS Vareo: Apprentice - best newcomer
RS Vareo: 1st Lady - 1st lady
RS Vareo: Fidelis - 1st helm outside main prizes who has been to 3 RS Vareo Nats previously
RS Vareo: Master - 1st helm 50 years old or over
RS Vareo: Grand Master - 1st helm 55 years old or over
RS Vareo: Concessionary - 1st helm 60 years old or over

 

Select your sail sticker. For more information click on the Sail Sticker title in the menu to your left.

If you are an RS300 sailor select your RS300 Hoody. For more information click on the RS300 Hoody title in the menu to your left.

Select your event evening meals. For more information click on the Shoreside Fun title in the menu to your left. Remember you can buy more than one ticket for each meal.  You need to have ordered you food by Fri 3 July. Please let me know any specific dietary requirements at [email protected]

How the event is going to work:

Arrival:

Drive to DYC where you will be welcomed by DYC Beach Crew.  You will be asked to unhook your dinghy and walk it to the boat park which is on the grassy area next to DYC called the Wharf.   Then you will need to park your car in the pay and display car park next to DYC.

Registration:

Wed 8 July at DYC 1300-1700hrs
Thurs 9 July at DYC 0900-1200hrs

Please note that you will be given two Volvo stickers to stick on your either side of your dinghy hull as close to the bow as possible.  The Volvo logo has changed very slightly so you will need to remove the 2014 stickers and put on new ones.

Noticeboard: Any changes or additions to event details will be posted on the Galley noticeboard.

Changing rooms: You will need a 20p coin to make the shower run.

Race Briefing:

Thurs 9 July: 1230hrs in front of DYC

Racing: Click on the racing title in the website menu to your left for all the details.

Thurs 9 July: 2 races back to back, first race start time 1400hrs

Fri 10 July: 3 races back to back, first race start time 1200hrs

Sat 11 July: 3 races back to back, first race start time 1200hrs

Sun 12 July: 2 races back to back, first race start time 1100hrs

Launching and recovery:

You will launch and recover your boat from the beach next to DYC.  You will access the beach by the lifeboat concrete slip.   An area of beach adjacent to the slip will be fenced off for the RS300 and RS Vareos so you are not dodging sandcastles and picnic blankets.  After you have gone afloat the Beach Crew will arrange your trolleys in your fleet specific beach trolley parks so as to make recovery faster.

The galley will be open daily from 0900hrs.
