Littleton Sailing Club hosted the first event of the 2006 SE AREA circuit
The 17 boats that arrived were greeted by sunshine and a wind gusting
between F6&F7. The Race Officer, David Cummins, was delighted with the
wind direction as it meant he could set the preferred windward/leeward course.
Eight boats gingerly headed out to the start. Fiona Hall/Andy Kerr took and
held the lead after Sarah Allen/Jane Alexendre capsized, leaving Sue
Antonelli & Jo Lloyd in 2nd until they followed suit,
Sarah/Jane finished 2nd and Tom/Andy Griffin (Severn SC) 3rd.
David/Matthew Giles were first away in race 2 and held the lead until
2nd beat capsize. Sarah/Jane took and held 1st place, David/Matthew
regained 2nd place on the final run, Fiona/Andy 3rd.
Staying upright was a distinct advantage and Sarah/Jane did just that
to take race 3 with ease, Fiona/Andy played safe whilst David/Matthew
risked all on the final gybe and screamed over the line to snatch 2nd
by a whisker � great spectating.
Sarah had secured overall victory, in the last race Fiona took the lead
at the end of the 2nd beat to take line honours from David/Matthew.
